President and CEO executive search

A Message from Frank van Schaayk, Chair of NSHA Board of Directors

Good morning,

As you may know, Janet Knox, President and CEO has announced her well-earned retirement from the Nova Scotia Health Authority. The Board of Directors sincerely thanks her for her significant leadership and contributions over the past four years, as well as throughout her extensive career in healthcare leadership within the province.

The Board has initiated the search process to find her replacement and has engaged the executive search firm of Odgers Berndtson to assist us, with Penny Mirams and Hayley Becker serving as the project leads. We have also created a CEO Search Committee to help with the recruitment and recommendation of a qualified candidate to the Board.

Physician and Employee Survey – Due Friday, May 10, 2019
An important component of the search process is consultation with key stakeholders to gain input and insight into the ideal candidate, as well as the opportunities and issues facing the organization. This information helps to inform the creation of the briefing document that is shared with potential candidates; assists in determining the best fit for the organization; and, aids in the development of screening tools to be used throughout the recruitment process. As physicians and employees, we would appreciate your perspective and invite you to participate in a short survey. The survey link is available HERE and will be active until end of day May 10, 2019.  The process is confidential, with your input going directly to Odgers Berndtson.

Web Site:
The selection of the President and CEO is an incredibly important decision for NSHA and many other stakeholders across the province and beyond. To provide regular updates to physicians, employees, volunteers, key stakeholders and the public, we have established a webpage on our NSHA website where we will provide information on the process.  The website link is http://www.nshealth.ca/ceorecruitment. The website currently houses information regarding the search committee and the search company.

A sincere thank you in advance for your feedback and support.

Kind regards,

Frank van Schaayk
Chair, Board of Directors
