The Heart Lung Wellness Program consists of ten weekly classes (Fridays: 8:15am – 12:00pm) that is delivered by a registered nurse, a dietitian and a physiotherapist.
Education sessions on heart/lung function, blood pressure, breathing techniques, cholesterol, nutrition, medication and stress management are also offered through the program.
Guest speakers include a pharmacist, physician, registered nurse, dietitian, social worker, respiratory therapist and a physiotherapist.
Gym equipment includes a treadmill; arm bikes, stationary bikes, a walking track and free weights. A home exercise program is also incorporated.

Referral to the program is direct from Coronary Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, a physician or a health care professional.
How do I prepare for an appointment?
A current stress test is required prior to admission into the program and individual intake assessments are done previous to clients participating in the group program.
